Getting Started

This guide walks you through your first session from first visit to a ready-to-score event.

1. Session setup

When you open the app for the first time you will see the session screen. Click Start new session to create a new scorekeeper session. To resume from a different device, enter an existing session ID and click Confirm instead.

Your session ID is always accessible from the hamburger menu (☰ top-right) once you are in the app.

2. Splash screen

After your session is established, a welcome splash appears. Click Continue to proceed.

3. Create your first event

With no events yet, you will see a welcome screen with two options:

  • + Create Event — opens the new event form
  • Manage Templates — takes you to the templates page to set up reusable event structures before creating an event

Click + Create Event and fill in:

  • Event name — defaults to "New Event"; type your own
  • Date — defaults to today
  • Pass mark — the minimum score to pass, between 0 and 10 (default 8.0)
  • Template — optional; choose one to pre-populate levels and performances

Click Create Event to save. You can create additional events later by clicking the chevron next to the event name in the header and choosing + New Event…

4. Add levels

Each event is organised into levels (e.g. "Yellow Belt", "Green Belt"). Click + Add level at the bottom of the main ledger. The new level appears with a default name — click the name to rename it inline.

5. Add performances

Each level has one or more performances — the scored tasks candidates complete. In the level header, click + Performance to add one. The performance appears as a column; click its name or the description field below to edit them inline.

6. Add candidates

Within each level, click + Add candidate at the bottom of that level's table. Each candidate has a Candidate name and a Dojo field — both editable inline by clicking them.

7. Multiple tables (optional)

If your event uses more than one grading table, you can add tables and assign candidates to them.

  • Add a table — open the Table dropdown in the judges row and choose + Table
  • Assign candidates — each candidate row has a Tbl column; use the dropdown to move a candidate to the correct table
  • Remove the last table — select the last table in the dropdown, then click the × button next to its number

The Table dropdown controls both the judge panel view and the candidate list simultaneously. Select All to see every table at once.

8. You are ready

Once your levels, performances, and candidates are set up, move on to Judges to pair your judging panel.

Tip: If you run similar events regularly, set up a template to skip the structure setup in future events.
