Judges

The Judges row sits below the header. Each slot shows its current status: OPEN (not yet configured), UNPAIRED (configured but judge has not connected), or PAIRED (judge is connected).

1. Open a judge slot

Click any judge slot button. The pairing modal opens and automatically configures the slot.

2. Share the judge URL

The modal displays:

  • A URL — the judge navigates to this on their phone or tablet
  • A QR code — the judge can scan it instead of typing the URL
  • A Copy button — copies the URL to the clipboard

3. Monitor pairing status

Once the judge opens their URL, the slot status updates to PAIRED (shown in green in the slot button).

4. Manage a judge slot

  • Name — the name field (placeholder "Set name") is optional and limited to 10 characters. Click it to type a name at any time.
  • Disable — click Disable judge (shown in red) to remove the judge from the active panel. Their scores for completed performances are retained.

There is no "Remove" option. Disabled slots remain visible in the row but are excluded from future scoring sessions.

Multiple tables

When an event has more than one grading table, the Table dropdown (left side of the judges row) controls which table is in view.

  • Select a table number to show only that table's judge slots and filter the candidate ledger to match
  • Select All to show all tables' judge panels stacked in a single row; the candidate ledger shows all candidates

Clicking a judge slot in any table's panel opens its pairing modal. The judge's device will display their table number (e.g. Table 2).

Disabling all judges

The Disable Judges button in the judges row disables every active slot at once.

Paper submission

Pairing a judge on a device is optional. A judge slot only needs to be enabled — not necessarily paired — for the scorekeeper to enter scores on their behalf. This means judges can still submit scores on paper and have the scorekeeper enter them as SK overrides.

Note: Judge URLs are unique to a slot.

The judge's screen

Use this section to brief judges if needed.

Before a performance starts, the judge sees a waiting screen showing their name (or slot number if unnamed) and "Waiting for scorekeeper...". They can tap their name to edit it (optional, max 10 characters).

When a performance starts, the scoring screen appears. The info bar at the top shows the level, performance name, and description. The judge's name is editable inline in the info bar at any time.

Each candidate appears with:

  • A score display (starts at the pass mark)
  • A Reset button — resets the score back to the pass mark
  • −0.1 and +0.1 buttons — step the score down or up in 0.1 increments
  • A slider — drag to set a score between 0 and 10 (hidden in landscape on small screens)

The judge can also type a score directly by clicking the score display.

When all candidates have a score, the Submit Score button (or Submit All for partner performances) becomes active. Clicking it sends the scores to the scorekeeper.

After submitting, the judge sees a confirmation screen showing each candidate's submitted score with a ✓, followed by "Waiting for next performance...".
